Tamás Székely is an Honorary Professor of Debrecen University and Professor of Biodiversity at University of Bath, UK. Tamás is an evolutionary biologist with long standing interest in behaviour, ecology and evolution. He was visiting professor at various universities including Harvard, Sun Yat-sen, Groningen and Göttingen, and he held a Mercator Professorship at Bielefeld University. He won numerous awards including the Humboldt Award and the Wolfson Merit Award of The Royal Society. Tamás was a Fellow of the Advanced Institute in Berlin. He has extensive experience in sexual selection, mating system evolution, sex ratio theory and wetland conservation that lead to 4 books and over 300 research articles that include 20 papers in Nature, Science, PNAS and Current Biology. He founded a biodiversity conservation NGO in West Africa in 2010 and served the NGO as President until recently. He is the PI in the ÉLVONAL SHOREBIRD SCIENCE project that recognizes his lifetime research and conservation work in shorebirds.
